Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
It was one of the shortest yet funniest flights I’ve ever experienced. From Panama to Cartagena de Indias. Before boarding a hostess offered me a 50 dollar voucher if I had my hand luggage stored as cargo. The flight had cost me 75 dollars and since it took only an hour to arrive, I accepted gladly, without even asking why.
The plane had a minor problem and we took of an hour and a half late. Which seemed to worry most people terrible. As soon as we were in the air, the stewardesses started serving lunch. Initially I truly thought the crowing noise was a joke by the airline company, since it was chicken they served. The crowing intensified, soon becoming deafening. All the overhead lockers were stowed with roosters in perforated cardboard boxes. A nervous young man explained that cock fighting was a popular sport in Colombia and Panama had great roosters. Before boarding the roosters were given a light tranquilizer, but since the flight had left with a delay, the effect wore out while we were flying.
